Description

BAT-tle Royale is a fast-paced, two-player trick-taking card game set in the wild world of cryptocurrency, blockchains, and Web3 degen culture. The game leans heavily into BAT (Basic Attention Token) and Brave browser meme lore, most notably through its striking tuck box that features the iconic 2017 Copium X Hopium cubist artwork — a nostalgic tribute to longtime BAT holders. Inside, the cards contrast beautifully: sleek geometric Chain Cards representing Ethereum, Avalanche, and Solana, paired with premium Flat 2.0 illustrated NFT lion characters (The Curious, The Dabbler, The Degen, and The Sage) presented in elegant Art Deco frames. Gameplay is simple to learn but rich in bluffing and tactical depth. Each round, a Market Chain (trump suit) is revealed from the draw deck. Players take turns leading a card, and the opponent must beat it with a higher card of the same chain or any card from the current Market Chain. The four special NFT cards act as a powerful unified suit that beats everything — with The Sage being the ultimate card in the game. However, The Sage can be dramatically countered by the Burning Trick, where the opponent sacrifices all three other NFT cards at once. Initiative, timing, and mind games are crucial, as the lead constantly shifts and games are often decided by razor-thin margins. To win, players collect cards in their discard pile throughout the game. Chain Cards are worth 1 point each, while NFT cards carry higher variable point values printed on them. After all 42 cards have been played, the player with the most points wins (a 30–30 tie is possible). With its mix of classic trick-taking DNA, clever crypto theming, and tense risk-reward decisions, BAT-tle Royale delivers a surprisingly strategic and replayable experience in just 15 minutes. —description from the designer
