Grapplin is a two-player climbing and shedding game where players compete to empty their 18-card hands first. Players take turns playing combinations (singles, pairs, triples, runs) or bombs (quads or suited runs of 4 singles) to beat each other's attacks. When you match a rank in your opponent's combination, you can take cards from a communal row, add a card to transform their combination, or remove a card to weaken it. But you can only use these special actions if you can still beat their attack afterwards. Each player has a joker that can be flipped once per round to reverse the rank order. Victory comes from reading when to use your special actions, when to flip the rank order, and when to play a bomb. First to shed all cards wins the round. First to three rounds wins the game. —description from the designer
