Hack the Stack is a partnership trick-taking game where players step into the roles of offensive and defensive cybersecurity teams. Two teams Red Team (Offense) and Blue Team (Defense) battle across four rounds of tactical play, leveraging suit-based effects, timing windows, and powerful one-shot Zero-Day abilities to outmaneuver their opponents. The deck represents a digital battlefield: Exploits (Red) pressure the system and reward counter-play. Defenses (Blue) push back and punish overextension. Vulnerabilities (Green) create high-value scoring moments. Tools (Black) destabilize tricks by reversing the usual win condition. At its core, Hack the Stack uses familiar trick-taking foundations—follow suit, highest card wins—but every suit carries a unique rule that radically shifts scoring. Victory often comes not from simply winning tricks, but from winning the right tricks in the right way. Each round, teams receive a Zero-Day card an unpredictable, high-impact cyber event that can double points, cancel tricks, hide weaknesses, or even swap played cards. Only one Zero-Day may appear in any trick, turning timing and coordination into crucial skills. Designed for players who enjoy tactical teamwork, clever timing, and dynamic interaction, Hack the Stack blends classic trick-taking structure with modern asymmetric scoring and thematic effects. With shared team goals, fast rounds, and highly interactive play, every trick becomes a puzzle of risk, timing, and strategic disruption. —description from the designer
