In the two-player strategy game, Children of the Sun, players take control of the mighty dragon children of Ino'itl, the Sun god. The two were sent to Earth in order to create a beautiful landscape as an ode of love to Xochanama, the Moon goddess forever fated to be out of Ino'itl's reach. During the game, players must summon forth the elements in order to craft their magnificent landscapes. On each turn, players will draw and place an Elemental Token onto a 6x6 game board, flanking opponent pieces and flipping them over. For every opponent token flanked, along with the token placed, the player gains corresponding Elemental Resources. Earth, Water, Life, Void, and Spirit. Resources are used to craft Creation Cards, which represent the fantastic landscape being formed by the players. Creation Cards come in five different types: - Terra Cards grant points to the player who creates the most expansive landscape. - Aqua Cards score based on the difference in value from one card to the next. - Species Cards score higher the more diverse a player s ecosystem becomes. - Source Cards generate extra resources and score for each corresponding Creation Card made. - Wonder Cards award points for each token flipped to the player s side at the end of the game. Players must also balance the interconnected ecosystem between their cards. Enough Terra must be generated to support Aquatic creations, or else they are discarded at the end of the game. Aqua is needed to keep Species alive, with each type requiring different amounts of water. If a Habitat icon on a Species card matches one shown on a Terra card, players gain valuable bonus points. Along the way, players can acquire and use Dragon Powers to gain a one up on their opponent. These abilities include actions like creating additional cards on your turn, flipping tokens on the board, increasing your hand size, and even discarding an opponent's Creation Card. And once per game, each player may summon the aid of the Sun god and Moon goddess to recharge their powers or redraw a new hand of Creation Cards. The winner of Children of the Sun is the player who crafts the most captivating landscape, pleasing the Moon goddess and securing favor from the Sun god!
