Hokey Pokey is a game where 2 to 4 players play on a table with metal goals at each end. One team is called Hokey and the other Pokey. Object of the game is to push a wooden puck along the table in the direction of a players goal. This is accomplished by using a thick wire with a handle at one end and a wooden disk at the other. The wooden disk slides along the table surface to push the puck along. The first person or team to score 4 goals is the winner. violation of rules such as swiping the puck instead of pushing sees the opposing team calling out their name (i.e Hokey) and receiving a free push. The game was produced when the Hokey Pokey song and accompanying dance peaked in popularity as a music hall song and novelty dance in the mid-1940s in the UK and Australia. —user summary
