Description

A word-making game on an entirely new principle, "as fascinating as bridge". Letter-bags is a word-making game using four identical tile-sets of single letters, one per player. One player is the caller and draws letters at random from their set, calling them out. All other players take the same letter from their sets, and place in one of six columns, trying to make words vertically. Tiles may not be rearranged, but completed words can be removed to score, or left in the hope of making them longer with subsequent tiles. Words must be at least four letters and score one, with an extra point for each additional tile, and one bonus point for the longest word of the game. The game's date is uncertain, but judging from the typography is late Victorian. Published by Miss M. I. Drury of Kingstown, County Dublin. —user summary
